      1. It did, actually! Which was nice, too 🙂 I have a bit of a hybrid accent, a mix of British, Canadian and Aussie, so I don’t like the sound of my own voice. However, you never know, I might try a vlog one day. Or we might meet at a Blogger’s Bash sometime 🙂

      2. I throw a lot of people in the US as I don’t have the Southern accent people expect when they hear I am in NC, so I was curious. I’m not typically a fan of it played back to me either. I don’t think most people are though. Something about the way we hear ourselves speak being at a different pitch than the sound waves hitting another’s ear or something like that.

        I was really hoping to go to the bash this year. I kept waiting for my Fairy Godmother to appear and wave her wand turning my garden into gown and transport. She obviously got lost, which is a shame as I look good in earth tones. Maybe next year.

I hope next year too – here’s hoping your fairy godmother comes through 🙂 I must say I hadn’t considered you’d necessarily have a Southern accent – you sounded to me just as I thought you would. As for me, I don’t fit in anywhere. I often get asked where I’m from and it throws people off when I say ‘Coventry’ which is just north of here. But it’s true!

There was a bit of a delay in the picture at times (I’m not sure if that was a problem with my computer or the original recording), so I didn’t always see you saying something at the time I heard it, but it was very nice to hear your voice. I wish you were running for political office, though. You’d make a very tactful candidate. 🙂

    1. 🙂 It was entirely my connection’s fault. It was caused either by my computer continuing its efforts to sabotage my writing career or my ISP throttling my bandwidth in retaliation against my support of net neutrality. But I am glad you enjoyed it all the same. (Good luck this weekend by the way)

      I’m pretty sure I’d make a lousy politician. While I have spent almost my entire non-writing career conditioning myself to withstand meetings about meetings about meetings, I am afraid I tend to get a little punchy as the meetings progress and would be bound to say what is really on my mind.

      1. Oh, my goodness, saying what’s really on your mind would be a terrible trait for a politician. That being the case, I think you’re very wise to stick to writing instead.

        Incidentally, thank you for your good luck wishes. Some of the other blogs I’m up against have many, many more followers than I do, so I’m not confident enough people have even heard of me to give me a chance. Still, who knows? Fingers crossed! 🙂

      3. Thanks, Allie. If nothing else, the nomination did alert me to a lot of great blogs I hadn’t know about before. That means whatever happens, it’ll still have been a very positive experience for me. 🙂

    1. Sounds like you have kept yourself incredibly busy, especially if you are also currently under the weather. Thanks for including my show in your post. Dan, Jenny, and Allison are terrific hosts. They make you feel warm and welcome and conversation came easy. My first tip would be to turn off any and all things that might be skimming your bandwidth before launching into the show. I thought my speed was fine as all my test attempts prior to joining the call had gone just fine. So of course my bandwidth narrowed to a fingernail’s width the minute the show went live. Oh well. I still had a great time anyway. My second tip would be to have a list of all your various links handy – crazy enough, Dan, Jenny, and Allison actually want to help promote you too.

      1. Thanks for the great ideas! I am terrible with computers, so I’ll have my software engineer husband take a look, prior to going live! Well, you seemed very at ease in front of the camera. This is great exposure and certainly good practice talking about writing.
